The Expression Lab is a space where every child is encouraged to explore, question, and create, using nature, art, theatre, and making as different languages for the same idea: that every child has something worth expressing.
Through hands-on, inquiry-led experiences, students build not just skills but confidence, the confidence to notice a texture no one else saw, to shape an idea with their hands, to find their voice on stage. By nurturing curiosity alongside craft, Riverside ensures that self-expression becomes second nature, preparing children to think, create, and communicate with courage.
A nature walk is often seen as little more than a break from the classroom, time to stretch legs and get some fresh air. At Riverside, it is designed as a hands-on inquiry into the world outside. Children are guided to notice, question, and connect, this fortnight, our students paired up with their Grade 7 buddies for a walk through the mango orchard, and on another walk built a closer bond with nature by collecting leaves, feeding goats, and balancing across uneven terrain. Along the way, every walk builds concrete vocabulary, sharpens observation, and strengthens gross motor skills, turning a simple stroll into a lesson in curiosity, community, and independence.
Art at Riverside begins with a simple belief: every child deserves the joy of making something with their own hands. The Art Immersion programme introduces students to the richness and diversity of Indian handicrafts, while encouraging them to experiment freely with materials, techniques, and creative processes of their own choosing. Rather than chasing a “perfect” outcome, the focus stays on discovery, colour, texture, and craft become tools for children to express what words sometimes cannot. In celebrating both heritage and imagination, the programme nurtures not just young artists, but confident, curious makers who find joy in creating.
Theatre at Riverside is a powerful tool for growth, nurturing imagination, creativity, and confidence, while strengthening language and literacy through storytelling and role play. It gives children the space for self expression, helping them move past fears and shyness to communicate effectively, while fostering teamwork, empathy, and emotional growth. As they engage with theatre, students sharpen critical thinking, learn to improvise while building their characters, and enjoy a hands-on, interactive experience that runs alongside their academic growth. In the process, they grow into confident, creative learners for life.
At Riverside, reading is not confined to classrooms — it is woven into everyday life. The Readery is a warm and inviting space where students across Grades 3 to 12 can pause, disconnect from distractions, and immerse themselves in the joy of books.
More than a library, The Readery is a space for wonder, reflection, discovery, and conversation. It brings together stories, ideas, perspectives, and voices from across the world, allowing children to explore beyond what they already know and encounter experiences different from their own.
The Readery also creates opportunities for students to recommend books to one another, share their reading journeys, revisit favourite stories, and discover new authors and genres — through activities like themed reading months, reading circles, and a ‘Reading Journal’ that celebrates every milestone along the way. It is a space where there is no single right book to read — only the possibility of finding a book that speaks to you.
We believe that a child who finds joy in reading carries that joy far beyond school. The Readery is our way of creating the time, space, and freedom for that relationship with books to grow — nurturing curious minds and cultivating a lifelong love for reading, one page at a time.
At Riverside, we believe every child is an innovator waiting for the right tools. The Maker-Verse is a dedicated space built on the philosophy of Feel, Imagine, Do, Share, where curiosity turns into hands-on creation. Equipped with tools ranging from hand tools and power tools to machines like the CNC router, 3D printer, and laser cutter, students learn to design, build, and troubleshoot real projects rather than just imagine them. Along the way, they pick up skills in electronics, robotics, and design thinking that go far beyond any single subject. The Maker-Verse doesn’t just teach children to fix problems, it teaches them to imagine solutions and bring them to life with their own hands.
