A global network launched by Ashoka to identify, connect and support innovative schools around the world that are empowering young people by equipping them with core skills such as empathy, teamwork, leadership and creative skills which will enable them to work successfully in rapidly changing environments. These Changemaker skills will enable children to bring about a lasting change not just in their lives but also in their communities, organizations, society and wherever they are most needed as adults.

The Chicago Council on Global Affairs announced Kiran Bir Sethi as the 2013 Patricia Blunt Koldyke Fellow for Social Entrepreneurship. They honoured her as a Koldyke Fellow for her efforts to generate innovative solutions to challenges in India's schools, education system, and education policies, which have since become replicated globally.

Design for Change has won the prestigious Rockefeller Foundation Youth Innovation Awards 2012.

Design for Change, an initiative of The Riverside School, was the winner of the Design to Improve Life (work category) award given by Index: Design - the world's biggest, and perhaps most important - design prize. The Danish, non-profit design organization INDEX: Design to Improve Life received almost 1,000 nominations for the competition from 78 countries. The winners of INDEX: Award is not traditional design, but rather design that vastly improves the lives of people all over the world.

Ms Kiran Bir Sethi was awarded the 'Call to Conscience' award by the King Center at Stanford University on 15th Jan 2009 (Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday)!! This is a validation of the pedagogical practices at Riverside.

Ms Kiran Bir Sethi was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship 2008 for "aProCh - A Protagonist in every Child". Ashoka Fellowship is the most prestigious award in the social entrepreneurship awarded by the Ashoka Foundation, USA. It is given to change makers who inspire and provide system changing solutions for the world's most urgent social problems. Past noted Ashoka Fellows from Asia include: Mohammed Yunus - Founder of Grameen Bank, Bangladesh and Nobel Peace Prize winner and Sakeena Yakoobi - Founder of Afghan Institute of Learning.
