DaanUtsav (earlier called the Joy of Giving Week) is India's "festival of giving"! Launched in 2009, the festival is celebrated every year, in the week including Gandhi Jayanti, i.e., October 2-8, and brings together Indians from all walks of life, to celebrate "giving".

DFC is proud to be part of this movement.


CARE FOUNDATION is a non-government and a non-profit organization that was initiated in 1990.

It works towards the betterment of the society mainly by providing financial assistance through scholarships, and free education to deserving the poor and needy, better medical treatment at lower rates for the underprivileged at their Charitable Hospital & Medical Centre, women empowerment programs making them self-reliant, free education for children of construction workers and promote public awareness programs related to health, hygiene, family planning, AIDS, etc.

The activities under CARE FOUNDATION were initiated by Late Mrs. Anju Jain, the Soul of CARE FOUNDATION and the organization experienced tremendous growth under her able leadership. Over 3000 students have benefitted so far under the student adoption program, over 4000 women have become self-reliant and are either running successful small-business ventures or employed with a stable income.

žThe Core philosophy of Care Foundation is ‘ANYBODY CAN JUMP’. JUMP unlike its literal sense, has to be taken as a LEAP here. It is about the belief that you can do it, irrespective of your physical ability or your financial standing; it is about the exhilaration. This JUMP signifies everything, which makes one feel that he or she can get better; be it in one's career, health, intellect or studies. The idea is to make people realise that moving forward and believing that one can achieve better things in life is most vital.

žAnybody Can Jump- Anyone can achieve anything one desires, if given the right resources, right platform and right opportunity. Anybody Can Jump is an initiative by Care Foundation to bring out the best in an individual and make him or her Jump to achieve what they desire.


MR DHARMESH JAIN the MANAGING TRUSTEE of Care Foundation is Promoter and Director of various companies having business in construction and real estate development in India. He is also associated with various Educational, Social and Cultural Organizations. He has been a member of the representative bodies of real estate industry in India.

He is the Chairman & Managing Director of Nirmal Group of Companies primarily engaged in construction and real estate development in India. He is also the President, Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI-CREDAI) and the Governing Council Member – Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI National). He is also the Executive Committee Member, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI)

Consultants to Ashoka India

The seeds of future behaviour and conduct are sown very young. There is a major paucity around the world in school cultures and educational processes that relentlessly focus on nurturing empathy, problem solving and social/emotional intelligence in the children at school.

Ashoka has initiated the ‘Transforming Childhood and Youth Years Program’ with schools where the focus is to identify and build school cultures that promote changemaking skills and attitude in children. Riverside with its core philosophy of “Doing well and Doing Good” is providing Consulting support to Ashoka’s initiative by building metrics and videos that will support educators to build and assess the skills that help children to become real changemakers. In this context, four key Changemaking skills have been identified which include: [i] Empathy [ii] Teamwork or collaboration [iii] Creative Problem solving [iv] Empathetic Leadership.

Riverside is working in collaboration with Ashoka Innovators for the Public in two areas:- [1] Designing, testing and refining of Changemaking Indicators which comprise of a Teacher Reflection guide (Growth Card) and a self-reflection tool for students on mapping growth around these key skills as children move from younger grades to grade 12.
[2] Develop video-based content in Riverside on pedagogical processes and practices that foster empathy, teamwork, creative problem solving and leadership in children which can then be shared with other educators as inspirational and educational material.

The primary intent of Changemaking Indicators and videos is to help educators and other stakeholders to question, learn, reflect and co-create a school culture where such skills and attitudes blossom naturally. The indicators will also allow educators, parents and other stakeholders to understand and map the impact of their work by noticing the development of their child as both empathetic and empowered citizens.

Thought leadership with TFI

The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER), 2014, says only an average 48.1 per cent of Class V children across India can read a Class II-level text.

Teach for India’s online teacher training portal,, is developing a teacher certification program that could address the gaps that currently exist in teacher training. Riverside School is providing the thought leadership to develop the content for the said program, using Design for Change’s FIDS (Feel, Imagine, Do, Share) framework.

This alternative certification program is focused on elevating the pedagogy and practice of Government schoolteachers in India and Teach for India fellows. This shall be a first of its kind platform; built to address the pressing need of building teacher-capacity. We believe it is set to transform the education scenario of India by enabling teachers to enable children.

The approach for the certification program is designed to offer a support system, which will include a combination of an offline-online-coaching model. The offline training will provide the teachers with an opportunity to interact with both their peer group and the coach.

Consultants to Shoshit Seva Kendra (SSK), Bihar

Shoshit Seva Kendra (SSK) is a fully free English medium residential school serving the children of the ‘Musahar’ community in Bihar. SSK is a brainchild of Mr. Jyoti Sinha, a retired IPS officer with the Government of India, who founded this school to provide quality education to the poorest of the poor Musahar (rat-eater) community. Riverside is proud to join hands with SSK in a partnership for 3 years since January 2015. Riverside Education Foundation is providing Consultancy services to Shoshit Seva Kendra to maximize teacher efficiency.

Riverside is providing consultation services in key areas of People, Spaces and Pedagogy. In each of these areas, Riverside conducts teacher training workshops for SSK teachers as well as provides one-to-one mentoring to SSK teachers. In addition, SSK teachers visit Riverside for observations and consultation to experience best teaching practices in action at Riverside.

People: Riverside school leaders and teachers consult with SSK faculty through games and workshops for maximizing educator potential individually and mutually through collaborative and collegial strategies. Introduction to Riverside processes provide a springboard for developing and fostering healthy relationship between teachers and students. Riverside also provides strategies to empower students and teachers to collectively take ownership and accountability for important school wide decisions. Spaces: Riverside also works with SSK to maximize student learning by impacting their engagement and involvement through organizing and using different internal and external spaces in the school premises. Pedagogy: Riverside audits classroom practices at SSK, conducts workshops on or off-site and invites SSK educators to observe and consult with school leaders and teachers at Riverside for pedagogical and class-room practice strategies. Riverside teachers actively supports and reviews lesson planning and documentation created at SSK. Riverside prides in its Common Sense to Common Practice model that enables it to reach out to educational communities of varied socio-economic and cultural backgrounds across the world.
