We offer clubs in Key Stage 2 to provide opportunities for students to hone a skill to a level of expertise. Through this, they develop a sense of purpose, confidence and self worth. They learn to be more responsible, patient and understand what it means to work in a group to come up with a high quality output.
This year we have introduced following clubs and club heads:
The Communication Club Head - Dr. Saumya Pant got her Ph.D. from Department of Communication Studies at OhioUniversity, Athens, U.S.A. in Communication for Social Change and Gender and Health Communication. After being in the United States of America for 13 years, Dr. Pant has returned to India and joined Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad (MICA) as an Associate Professor. For the last two years, Dr. Pant and has taught at Department of Communication and Journalism at University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.A. Her areas of expertise are gender and health communication, mass communication for social change, critical cultural inquiry, and transnational feminisms. Her understanding of communication theory emanates from her experiences in the field.
The Communication Club is her attempt to put young minds at play by engaging in public speaking, entertainment-education, film appreciation, visual communication, inter-cultural communication, mass communication and creative thinking. The purpose isto slowly build communication skills required to compete in today’s global environment.
Architectural Modeling Club Head-Roma Tayyibji is a graduate of School of Architecture, CEPT University and practices architecture through ‘Anthill Design’ (a design studio) with her partner. She has been involved in various institutional and housing commissions along with private residential projects. Her primary interests & skills revolve around space & form making as well as visual arts.Sanaya
Cooking Club Head – Mrs. Anita Devnani has achieved excellence in multiple cuisines like Indian, Chinese, Inter-continental, Baking, Snacks and Desserts during her internship at Fortune Landmark Hotel. She loves to work with children and teaches them cooking with lot of passion.
Photography Club Head-Ketan Modi is teaching photography since 1998 at Navgujarat Multi-Course Training Institute (Department of Photography). His interest in the field of “Life Photography” won him several State Awards. He also conducts workshops on photography.
Karate Club Head-Aakash Agrawal is a Black Belt in karate. He has won gold medal in International Karate Martial Arts. He is in this field since last 13 years and loves to work with school children.
Puppetry Club Head- Ramesh Rawal has learnt the art of puppetry under the guidance of Meher Contractor who was a world renowned in this field. He has conducted puppet shows in Iran, Japan, Italy, Germany, Afghanistan through Darpana Academy of Performing Arts and also workshops.
Portrait Club Head- Mrs.Vinita Modi is a B.A.in philosophy and art. She loves making portraits in oil and is a lover of children's art. She has been with Riverside for more than 3 year now, taking care of all the art sessions in school. Portrait making is her passion and her forte too.
Band Club Head -Pankaj Mistry (Talsania) is a multi-trained personality. A creative content writer and visualizer with 20+ years of experience in Advertising, IT and Marketing Pankaj plays guitar and sings and has given solo performance at many reputed institutes and clubs. He is a regular music teacher at Riverside.
Sculpture Club Head- Sanaeya Tehzeeb Wadia has studied at The Lawrence School Sanawar (Simla Hills) and was Faculty of Fine Arts– Sculpture–M.S.Univ. (Baroda). She has held group exhibitions in Sculpture at Lawrence School Sanawar, Kala Ghoda Festival Bombay and Hutheesingh Visual Arts Center Ahmedabad. She has worked with famous sculptors like Karl Antao and Ratilal Kansodadia.
Nature Club Head - Mr. Dhaval Jamnadas is a naturalist and has been teaching children about nature conservation since more than 15years. He is a publisher and editor by vocation but tries to spend as much time as possible to spread the word of nature conservation. He is also a trained snake handler and an avid ornithologist. He has spent a good part of his life in camps with children. His other interests are driving and anthropology.
